View Full Version : Is this the wrong IRS driveshaft adapter?

I'm trying to install the IRS driveshaft adapter, and can't quite get it to fit. I've read in the past that several folks have had fit issues with the adapter, but it seemed to me that most of those problems were with an adapter that was too big to fit in the IRS flange. In my case, it appears to be just *barely* too small. I can get one bolt started but the bolt circle appears to be just barely too small to be able to start any other bolts. Wherever I start the one bolt, the adapter is against the flange, but on the opposite end the adapter is several millimeters away from the flange. Do I have the wrong adapter?

Yep. Call FFR and they'll send you the other one.

Yeah. When I ordered my IRS upgrade kit somewhere along the line they asked if it was a stick or auto. I was thinking about my FFR so said stick. Actually they were asking about the diff I had bought as a salvage rear suspension assembly. It had come from an auto trans Mustang.

As Craig said, if you didn't get the center section from them or know what yours came from it's a crapshoot.

Jeff and Craig are correct. I didn't purchase my center section from FFR with the kit, so this is definitely not their fault.
