Hey, everyone. Out here on the high plains, we have seemingly endless miles of arrow-straight highway and county roads with 75 mph limits. The bottom line is that if I'm leaving town to go anywhere, it is going to entail long straight drives at constant speed. And with my arthritic theater knees, being able to shift leg position slightly will certainly be a help.

I know guys have added cruise control kits to carbureted cars with mechanical throttle linkage, but I'm having trouble finding any write ups. I'll be able to figure it out myself, but thought I would see if anyone would post their setups so I don't reinvent the wheel if not necessary.

I'm looking to go all electric as opposed to vacuum, though I'm open to persuasion.

Thanks for any ideas!

Nathan

The Dakota Digital (identical to Rostra) setup works great.

Main unit attaches to the firewall or another location and you can attach the control cable to your throttle from the front or back. Wire it in to your speed sensor wire, brake and clutch wires and your good to go. I mounted the control module under the dash. I have the same unit in my Fox mustang. One is Fitech, the other ProFlo4 but they both have a typical carb style throttles.

In the roadster my mechanical linkage grabs the throttle from the back, and the cruise from the front. No reason you can't attach both from the rear if you route it carefully.

If you are driving on flat ground mostly you only need a simple mechanical cable to hold the throttle steady. Kiss.

If you decide to route it from the front, this is the way that I did it with parts from Summit. It works really well for me.

I actually have mine pulling on the top off the gas pedal. You can keep everything behind the dash and out of the engine compartment.
