Ok, so this is my first post on the forum, and I am not sure which is more difficult, figuring out how to navigate and use this forum (or any forum for that matter) or how to put together this car! I will try not to ask any more questions than I really need, but I am at a point where I need to plan my clutch assembly. I have read much regarding cable vs hydraulic and I really want to try cable. I have a coyote gen 3 to install and was looking at the Ford upgrade as has been recommended. I have also seen that it can be a little difficult with routing. It may exist on the forum, and in my ignorance I may not have just been able to do the right research, but I can't find where anyone has posted any pics of the Ford clutch cable routing with the Coyote Gen 3. Has anyone done this, and does it work fairly well? I have located a dual reservoir but before forking out the money for that, I want to make sure I am going to be able to easily (or relatively so) install the clutch cable and make sure it has worked well with any who has already done this. Thanks so much!

Welcome. Cable routing is pretty straightforward with the MK4 and TKO transmission. I posted some pictures on my build thread starting at post 401. If you need some specific pictures let me know.
My coyote is a second generation, but I have to believe the block is the same. That said, I installed a cable clutch. I don't know what you are doing for headers, but I think it would be easier with full length. maybe. I have shorty headers and in order to keep the cable away from the headers, I fabricated a bracket that is mounted to the block. Here are some photos

Nothing fancy: I cut the bracket that came with the cable and bolted that to a steel plate on the block. You only see it if you are under the car.

Here's the steel plate. It is bolted to one of the holes intended for the engine lift bracket. I believe that's a 14mm machine bolt.

The stock cable that came with the kit is routed from the pedal box to the bracket, around the header. Then it's a straight shot back to the bell housing. It has worked out well for me! I'm happy to go into more detail if you want.

No difference between any of the generation Coyotes for cable routing. Like any engine, the variables are going to be (1) headers, and (2) bell housing/transmission. Different headers will have different paths to route the cable. You want it as far away as possible while still maintaining as reasonable a curve as possible. Heat on the cable is its number one enemy. Different bell housing/transmission combinations will clock differently on the location of the cable attachment and clutch arm. Take that into account when you route the cable. Just make sure to use a genuine Ford cable as I think you're saying.

Ok, sounds feasible. That really helps with my decision. I have a gen 3 (with QuickTime bell housing), mated to TKO 600. I have read where some have also added a "firesleeve" or some sort of heat resistant cover to the cable. I have tried the clutch cable and really liked the feel and response, although it could have been because I was not expecting to like it! As for headers, I was planning on using the FF coyote full length headers and then using GasN's side pipes. Thanks so much for your advice and response and hope to be able, at some point, to do the same...I have a lot to learn tho!
