When are you all starting your builds? Mine is due beginning of march. I am in Santa Monica and am sure I will be needing help. Wondering if there is a local knowledge base nearby?

Steve

About $1800 to Santa Clarita via Stewart Transport

I am in my early stages of my Mk4 build. Just suspension, steering, tank and some sheet metal. You are more than welcome to come and visit.

Hey guys,

I just ordered my roadster today. Live in Los Angeles (Hollywood Hills) Just got the 1996 Cobra donor car. I'm very curious about shipping as well. $1,600-$2,000 seems like a pretty penny to add to the cost of the build. Has anyone researched other shipping options or just all defaulted to Stewart? I don't care if my car is open/flatbed, it's going to be polished and painted when it arrives anyway.

Hope your builds are going well.

Damon

Steward is pretty much our only choice right now and sometimes they act like it. Intercity Lines is also a viable option but they need your chassis on a dolly ( wheels ). They do not have an onboard crane system and while they are willing to assist us they can not deliver our package if not on wheels. If you can get someone to get a chassis dolly to FFR you might have an option.

You can also charter another shipping company but most require a crate which I think ends up costing enough to where the savings are all consumed.

You have to remember that this is coming from the east coast and you end up sharing this cost with other FFR buyers when using Stewart. I am an advocate for competition but I just can not find another shipper that can accomodate our needs and save us money.

we used stewart and they were great. Give them a call and they will quote you. They always called and gave updates. The driver busted his butt and was very nice. i would not hesitate using them again.
