FFR Type 65 at Laguna Seca on Labor Day

Hi Folks,

The car and I had a great day at Laguna Seca with Hooked on Driving.

Here is a video of two back-to-back laps following an Audi TTRS:

It was hot that day but water and oil temps maxed at 210 and 250, respectively.

125 miles of track driving, average speed ~72 mph and 5 mpg.

The car is a Gen III Coupe #17
carburetor Ford Racing Boss 302 (345 hp)
TKO600, IRS, Nitto NT05s

I've watched a bunch of video from Laguna Seca and the Corkscrew always freaks me out. I'd like to run it but CA is a long ways from MI.

So cool to watch! Laguna Seca is one of my favorite tracks.

Thanks for the tip on the Hooked on Driving class, BTW. I have some friends in the Shelby club and am really looking forward to getting my roadster on track at Laguna when it's finished. How did you like the HoD program? It seems like a great way to get familiar with the track and the car. We have a place down in the Monterey area, and one of my favorite times of year is the Concours and the Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna. I love being able to go back in the pits and see all the cars up close and talk to owners and drivers. Here's a shot from the pits from 2016.

These side pipes are these:

AP Exhaust 3806 - AP Exhaust Enforcer II Mufflers

I THINK- I'm not 100% sure. Certainly offset, round turbo-style from AP but maybe a different length.

I have custom 4" header elbows that come out of the body cutouts- with a 4" elbow I can clamp any number of mufflers in place.

I mostly run these on the street with the loudest inserts: Doug's Headers D930-B - Doug's Headers Corvette Side Pipes

The AP mufflers look funky and cut the power down but I can run WOT past the sound booth at Laguna Seca and pass the 90 dB sound limit days.

I have half a mind to gut a pair of the APs and stuff them into a 4 or 5" pipe.

That video is the overlay of two camera and their audio.

Still, no matter what pipes I run I have to wear ear plugs. Realizing that after having tried to sound-deaden the car as best I could (filling the spaces under the door behind the pipes, the doors, covering many of the surfaces, etc. with this-or-that mat, heavy-mass vinyl and so on- I ripped all that out to the tune of taking 50-100 lbs back out of the car.

What I really need is a GPS-settable active exhaust that quiets down past the track sound booth automatically- or when I get close to home.
