Hi 818 guys,

I have been following some of the threads in order to get a clue about some basics on the 818. I got here in July so I would appreciate it if someone could point me to some area where I could get a better point of reference. I have looked around but can't seem to find basics such as wheel base and other starting parameters. I was also curious to know if a Porshe transaxle is being used in the mule chassis. Things like that are of interest. Appreciate your help. WEK.

Right now we're using a WRX engine/trans in 2wd but mid-engine format for the mule but have plans to integrate other drivetrains. The car stage we are on next is body shape selection which will happen shortly. Next is the website with basics on BOM, parts lists (all subject to some change), and target configurations. I am purposely driving the design project down a strictly defined path to ensure that no claims are made that we dont deliver on, and that people understand this is not some cobbled together facebook group think abortion car, but rather our best work that reflects the latest techjnology we can muster and apply and the project car benefits from our amazing partners and community to launch on time, designed right, and deliver on the promises made of a truly affordable high performance DIY car capable of defining an entire new category/(s)! More to come!

The high mpg version with a TDI powertrain is an open secret.

Oh I knew that already. I was hoping for an all wheel drive model...

I was so far behind the curve, I had to ask! Now I even know where 818 came from. Thanks, Dave, crackedcornish (love the avatar) and all you guys. WEK.

Re: Alternate drive trains:
Months ago a question was posted to get a feel for potential demand for an electric drive 818. No details, but most suspect a reputable third party (i.e. A123) would design and market the drive train.
