Good morning all, I am starting to put on the sheet metal and looking at the distance between the dash and firewall it looks like a real challenge to get the heater installed in that space. I looked in the manual and see nothing about heater installation. If anyone has done this and has some pics they could post I would really appreciate it. Thanks G.

The separate instructions for the heater are on the factory five site

Ok now another question. I like to measure twice and cut once. I have the glove box. Does the 6 5/16" measurement from the edge of the fire wall still hold up or does the heater have to be moved over to make room for the glove box. I have wipers that have to go in there too. Not much room for amenities.

Glove box is not compatible with a heater unless you make modifications. I went with the fire wall forward mod and then had to custom cut and fab the back of the glove box to clear the heater. Took about half of the glove box depth out but still can hold papers and a few items.

I think I'll just leave the heater out. I'm not really sure how much good a heater does in a convertible car anyway. That dash is cramped on a good day. Know any body who wants to buy a heater? I'll sell it for half.

The heater can be a very nice option to have. You can have a simple modified glove box and heater all fit. Here was my solution, I have the normal placed firewall. And yes, I like to use my heater all the time, you will too, especially in MD. Check this out (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?29472-Carl-s-20th-Anniversary-8690-10-000-miles-With-Jeff-Kleiner&p=340157&viewfull=1#post340157), may be just the answer you need.

It can be done with minor modifications. I like my heater more than the seat heat, but you can get by with just seat heaters. I did both. I just positioned the heater further into the egine bay to get more space for my full glovebox. If you are interested, see the writeup on my build thread:

Thanks for the info on the heater box install. What would happen if I moved it more towards center to clear the glove box. Does the heater motor then become a clearance issue to the air cleaner?
