I thinking of leaving my trunk as is with aluminum panels (no carpeting)? Has anyone else? if so, can you post a picture?

Gets ratty after a while. Just did the carpet which has been in the box for 5 years. Trunk have been done with rattle can truck bed liner. Talking about an hour job so its not a big deal.

Perfect. Thanks Kevin.

How hard was it to install the carpeting with the body on? You did a great job.

Mine is just plain aluminum as it came from FFR 16 years ago. Wiped it down with solvent to take the marking off and installed it. Oxidized a little but looks the same as it was when it was installed. We have done many trips in the car so it has been used lots.

Was not very hard. Over measured a single piece to cover the whole trunk. Started at the top (roll bar end) & used 3M90 spray glue on the first level. Have one of those rollers printers use to put ink on a plate. Forgot the name.

Sprayed the flat & vertical step with the glue & ran the roller over it & let it set. Did the next set the same way. Let it set & trimmed it off at the bottom of the step. Cut a separate piece to put in the last small section below the trunk latch bar.

Cut around the roll bars etc with a good small sissor as you put the carpet in. Thing is like most of the car if you screw-up you can do over. ;) So don't get tense.

Trimmed the sides of the main piece. Cut the two vertical side pieces & glued them in. They take a bit of fitting. Final trim & good to go. Access covers were done individually. Over cut a piece put it face down sprayed the glue pushed the alloy piece into it & trimmed with a scissor when dry. Used button top screws back into the original rivet holes.

Did not try to do the rear of the cockpit bulkhead.

Key is to me don't get thick carpet that you can't pull tight around the two main steps. If thats messed up & not fitted tightly it will catch your eye right away.

Have used the 3M90 spray glue on everything that required glue, dash, carpet, insulation etc. Has stood up to 6 summers of Carolina heat in daily use with no separation.

I installed carpet when the body was on. It's a little bit challenging in the far corners of the galaxy... oh wait, wrong thread. In the far corners of the trunk I mean, but overall feasible. Make sure you have a fan blowing into trunk, so you don't get high from all that glue sniffing.
