Hi Everyone,, over the weekend i installed my forward and reverse Camera Screen. I couldn't decide whether to go with a rear view mirror style or a LED screen system. The one thing that i knew was that i definitely needed one. The front to keep the nose off of the bollards and the rear because visibility isn't that good lolol. So i went with the screen.
So, When i started i totally forgot that there was cross 1x1 frame going underneath the panel where i preferred to have it mounted. I didnt want it on the dash itself. Hoping for an autograph there on the passenger side on day. So what to do with the frame in the way.

I decided to make a new panel that i can mount over top of the old that would give 1 inch depth space that i needed. So i did a lot of measurements, angles, and used some cardboard to make up a template.

So because of my measure twice and cut after concept which was learned when i cut wrong on my dash lolol. (had to order another dash from FFR) i had a spare dash to cut my new cover.

So a long time ago i had bought a breaker. No idea Why. But i had one. So i began bending the edges for my cover.

I mounted it on. It actually fit pretty good. I drilled a hole and installed a grommet for the cable to go through the trans tunnel.

So here it is finished. I installed the bracket that holds the screen and screwed it down to the old panel with 4 metal screws. And the screen clipped in with the cable going through the grommet. I also included an extra bend towards the dash to close that off.

Just wanted to show everyone how i solved a problem that i had. Really happy with it.

Excellent work. Great design and fabrication on the sheet metal. Great write up. Love it!
I have been considering a back up camera. I have become dependent on them. I had researched backup cameras that work through WiFi through my smartphone so that I could avoid a screen in the car but I have not found a single one with good reviews showing it's reliable. The ones with a stand alone screen like you are doing seem line the way to go.

Thankyou!! I appreciate it!!. The downfall with the stand alone screen is the length of cable wire. This screen is meant for trucks buses and RV's etc. So i can actually mount 4 camera's. Cable is longer then i actually need. I will try and coil it up and mount it some where out of sight. I will add onto this thread as i go along with it.
