By way of background, I have no experience working with fiberglass – so I’ve been watching endless YouTube videos and staring at supplier websites till my eyes bleed.

One statement that I've seen repeatedly is that “Polyester / Vinylester resins shouldn't be applied over Epoxy Resin”. Is this true, or just someone’s opinion? Will there be adhesion problems or something? If so, is there anything I can do to avoid this issue?

Based on the recommendation of a long time forum member and vendor, I'm using West Marine Systems epoxy and E-glass cloth tape to do structural repairs (fixing oversized or warped body parts, building extra toe space in my trans tunnel, etc.), and I've been able to keep all the bonding on the inside so far. However, at some point I'm going to have Polyester resin or Polyester based products (Gel Coat, Rage Gold, etc.) applied over Epoxy and I don't want to create a latent problem that will show up after paint is done.

If you’ve dealt with this issue, please share your experience.
