Hi All,

Have run into a bit of confusion on the alternator wiring. Have tried to find the answers in the old posts, but can’t seem to.

I am finishing an old build, Coyote motor 2013, RF wiring harness 2013, and Ford Racing alternator 2013. I understand the large red wires go to the post, but the other plug has two wires although could be pinned for a third wire, I suspect yellow for an indicator light, which I don’t have (volt meter in dash.). Can I just use RF hook up as is in the alternator plug, which has 3 pins?

Another issue, the Ford Racing alternator plug is pointed out rather than on the side, looks like these wires will be very close to the header, any suggestions?

I can answer part of it - the three wires coming out of the RF harness are effectively one. So you can work your way back, reduce it to one, connect it and be done with it. For that part. I don't know what the Gen 1 coyote controls pack wiring is, so can't comment there. However, you mentioned that the connectors on the alternator are very close to the header. Yes. Looks like you have shorty headers, yes? It also looks like you wrapped some other wires with heat resistant tape. That will do the trick. There are lots of options for tape - just wrap all the alternator wires and it will be fine. I had the same problem/solution on mine.

I don't know anything about the Coyote setup but this may help with your clearance issue.

I can not tell from your photo but clocking your alternator so that your plug is 180 degrees from where it is at now may help. If you look for videos on clocking an alternator you may find one specific to your particular part number.

Here is a video example I pulled doing a quick search.
