Introduce myself: I milk cows and build street rods in central WI.
looking at building a '33 but would like to look at one before i buy one.
i would be looking to build the car for the express purpose of selling it. so if anyone would want one built for them let me know.
i usually do frame off restorations, frame build ups, upgrade drivelines, as i am a one man shop, it takes me 3-5 months depending upon farm work.
Daren's Daily Drivers - no show cars
my last completion is a 1946 4 door plymouth with 200+hp v6, 700r4, ifs. already have over 2,000 on it.
currently building a 1947 ford truck with a 347 ford stroker.
thanx

I spose your thread title dragged me over here (I graduated UW-Madison in 1986)... I actually think the 33 is more expensive (or at least can be) than a Mk4 roadster and for some reason, I've seen completed cars sell for less than roadsters. I blame this on the fact that most hot rods are custom built/designed and painted to appeal to an individaul with not a ton of standardization in them... where-as the Mk4 has less customizations and people expect a certian look... I dont know. Tasca is selling em for 50K sans engine/transmission. Good luck and you're always welcome to visit out here at the factory!

i agree that the roadster is probably better to spec build. BUT if i built a car and couldn't sell it for some reason, i'd prefer the '33.
my wife would probably prefer not to sell it, but it's buisiness/pleasure. emphisis on buisness.
now if someone want's me to build a roadster, i'd do that to.
thanx

Building a car on spec in this economy is a non starter in my book, unless you want to donate all of your time. Build it the way you want it and enjoy, do not go crazy building an off the wall car and you will likely be able to recover your money later, if/when you sell it. All the cars we have built on spec have sold for profit but not much profit. We build them, drive them for a while (several years) sell them and break a little better than even. This is a way better deal than a new car though. Built our first FFR in 1998 and have not built a 33 yet. This is just my opinion, HTH, Richard.

i agree that building a spec car for profit is difficult.
probably going to build a '33 in the next 1-2 years for myself anyway. i have 2 trucks to build and some other odd ball stuff first, unless i get a specific order.
already have the 302 and t5.

Have you checked out the other FF forum? ffcars.com is another great site for info on all FF cars. There is someone over there who keeps up a map of where owners of FF cars are also, by type.

Tom Veale owns #007 in Elkhart Lake, he's the only one showing in Wisconsin currently.
There could be more people in the area who have '33s, just not registered in the list.
