Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone have any experience using gas-n side pipes.

I'm building a MK4 with 427, and some say that the noise level in the cockpit during a cruise can be a little uncomfortable.
Wanted to get your thoughts on that..
Help~

Hey guys,
...some say that the noise level in the cockpit during a cruise can be a little uncomfortable.
The sound level at cruising speeds is due to wind, not exhaust. Full throttle is a different story. That said, the Gas-N pipes feature a longer muffler than the Factory Five pipes and do bring the exhaust level down, have a less harsh tone and are beautifully made. I've found that they often need some extra attention to get a good fit to the body but that can be overcome with Breeze wedges &/or spacers.

I have Gas-n pipes. The engine is a 416 with AFR 205 heads. The pipes are only not quiet when I open up the throttle and pull the rpms higher. The sound then is fantasticly loud but not harsh. The overall sound level at cruise is very pleasant. Easy to converse if you are driving below 50 mph. Over that speed wind noise is louder than the pipes. (hearing protection recommended for hwy drives) The quality of the Gas-n pipes is excellent. I would buy them again.

Gas-N pipes are top notch. As stated previously, they are works of art that really make a difference when compared to the FFR stainless pipes (with 12,000 miles on them). The sound is very mellow until you hit the go pedal. Then, they roar as desired.
You will not be disappointed.

did you go with Polished finish or Brushed?

Georgie (Gas-N) has only been selling the polished version for a number of years. So most will cite those. He only recently offered the brushed version. Just depends on the look you want.
I'm a huge fan of his products. Have used them on four builds. Quality doesn't get any better. You can see and hear them in this video of my Coyote powered Mk4 Roadster. The unfinished Coupe seen in this video (it's a couple years old) is now done and also has Gas-N pipes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCBLH-mr7ME&fbclid=IwAR3MOy-mG8DVBEgRlRQjzj0IhUFXb1hbM60PbYH8H1xBwkylas1XzrGxB SI
Here is a quick video of my car with FFR pipes:

And one that GTBradley made my newly installed Gas-N pipes:

The forum only lets me link one video in a post ...
The FFR pipes have more of a rasp and harsh, race car, tone compared with the Gas-n's more mellow, deeper tone. I prefer the gas-N pipes and there is no compromise in the Gas-N quality.

Gas-N and Georgie are top notch both for quality of product and service. Had both his headers and pipes in my first build and are going on my next build.

Exhaust tone aside, has anyone done a Db test of any of the sidepipes for the Roadster? I cannot use the FFR pipes as they come, too loud for Norwegian rules.

Boig's Quiet Pipes are going to be the quietest option I'm aware of.

Anyone know if it's an issue to switch to Gas-n's pipes on a painted car or is it better to do before? Essentially will it have the same routing out of the cutout in the body or would the cutout need to be changed and therefore better to do before paint? I'm not ready to pull the trigger on the Gas-n's yet and would rather do after paint if possible.

They do exit slightly differently, and I was warned to send the Gas-N pipes with the car when it went to Jeff's for paint.

Echoing Papa Dave's comment. You can make a painted hole bigger but not smaller ;) Chances are they're going to exit the cutouts differently and as I said in my earlier post they are likely to need wedges &/or spacers to get them to align with the body (they usually kick inward and want to hit the body at the rear end of the pipe).

Thank you, great info! I was actually talking to a guy on the forums who was selling a set of Quiet Pipes, but he stopped responding to me, I guess shipping to Norway was too much to ask for....Anyways, seeing the Db-numbers in the tests, they are still higher than allowed. I think i will take my FFR supplied pipes to a shop locally and see if they can help me quiet them down a bit.

I hope you get it worked out. There is always the option of an under-car, rear exit exhaust with real mufflers if you need to go that route.

Yeah, I know, but I "need" the sidepipes, it's a big part of the appeal to me. I was fortunate to get a ride in a roadster in Cape Coral while I was contemplating going for it, and sitting at a stoplight listening to the exhaust and smelling the fumes kinda did it for me.

FYI, Georgie has a "quiet" option which is called the "touring muffler" if you want even less noise/bark, and as everyone has said the quality is excellent. The welds look like they were made with a sewing machine and Georgie couldn't be more helpful!!
