Hello Everyone
Well it is done. The MK4 roadster complete kit has been ordered:
powder coat
cut outs
3 link
Vintage gauges
17x9 and 17x10.5 wheels
Stainless pipes
Duct mesh and louvres
Cut off switch
Carbon fiber dash, Leather steering wheel
Chrome Driver and passenger roll-bars with grommets
Brake kit and Moser 8.8 3 link rear end
Blueprint 347 Carb engine mated to a TKO600 Hydraulic throw out bearing ( Close to being delivered)
Already ordered multiple parts from Breeze ( throttle linkage, lower radiator support etc), Metco driveshaft loop.

So my question is. I have not gotten an email confirmation from FFR yet. I am assuming they will email me tomorrow or contact me. Is that what you experienced. Super stoked to get on this build. Will plan on doing a build thread when everything is delivered so you guys can laugh at me and then help me fix my screw ups :) Thanks everyone for your suggestions thus far and your direction.

Congratulations! Yes, FFR will call you to review your order and get the process going. Then about two weeks before your completion date, they will call you again to go over everything one more time before locking it down.

Thanks for the info Papa. My personality is a bit OCD. I am super excited. Time to start going over your build thread again and memorizing all of the pitfalls and tips :)

Congrats!

FFR experienced a power outage and had to shut down yesterday which may explain why you did not get a confirmation that the order was received. If you don't hear something today you might want to give a call to be sure it went through.

Congratulations! I have exactly the same combo from BPE, and it's awesome. Note that you will need to order a reservoir and a master cylinder for hydraulic TOB, since the kit comes with a clutch cable.

Congrats and don't worry they give you time to deal with OCD. You'll go over and over the order in your head and call to change things. I changed my order three times including removing some items from the list because the black Friday sale came up just a few days later. BTW, did you get an engine hoist?

Congratulations and welcome. The good news is that it’s pretty hard to screw something up in a way that hasn’t been done before. If we laugh, it’s only because you will be reminding us of our own experiences. You are going to have a blast. Thanks for letting us follow along.

Congratulation & Welcome Aboard!

............I think you've got a great combination!

Check out Paul's 2nd MK-4 build because his work and documentation of each of his builds really supplement the manual very well.

A power failure will being anyone down to a crawl.
I guess their solar system is one of the grid tie systems that have to have external power before it works.

Congrats, I picked mine up last week on the 18th at FFR. Don't know if you got to go there before your order but I was really impressed with how they do everything. My only issue is the long list of backordered parts, mine was a full page long and now i'm at a stand still because I can't finish any one system on the car. I don't know if that's the norm but it was a heck of a lot of parts on backorder. I guess the reason is Covid, with supplier issues. I hope it doesn't take too long for some parts to come my way. But other than that I really love the car. My build is almost identical to yours. Good Luck.

Our list of back ordered parts was also a page long in March this year. So I guess it’s kind of average, but may change depending on the situation. Luckily we don’t have anything blocking us from completing a drivetrain part

I'm missing the steering wheel, wheels and tires, the heim joints for the pan hard bar and torque link joints, front caliper pins, fuel filter bkt, gas pedal, and a whole bunch of little parts. And also waiting on powder coat. But that should be next Wednesday. I guess I can always work on the body.

There was a hydraulic clutch option on the form I picked instead of the cable option. What does the clutch option come with ?

Hm, that might be new, I don’t remember seeing this option in January when I placed my order. So my kit came with a cable (and was missing a clutch quadrant).

I know it is tempting to try to finish each system and move on but really not needed. There are very few parts that can't be added in later when they arrive. Yes covid has been one huge problem. My daughter is a scientist for a company that makes pet products. They had to re-organize their production operation to move people 6 ft away from each other. This slowed them way down. They added an hour to everyone's shift and still not back to normal output. They actually had to hire people to get back to normal production. I went to HD yesterday to get 6 sheets of T1-11 plywood for a shed. They had two. I asked if they had an idea when they would get a new supply in and the answer was they had no idea. Apparently they have been getting less than a normal order in since April but they never know exactly what will be shorted til the truck arrives. They checked their closest store and found they had 28 so my < an hour trip turned into 2+ hours.

The hydraulic clutch option come with another master cylinder like the brake cylinders and the engine combo has the lines to the edge of the bellhousing from inside. Just run another steel line down to the bellhousing area and secure it with a brake line bulkhead fitting and run a flexible braided line to the bellhousing and bleed like brakes. Its a much smoother feel rather than the cable.

You're going to be in great shape because this time will be well spent.
If you get any advice from Jeff Kleiner, 65 Cobra Dude (Henry) or Edwardb (Paul), take it.
If you get advice from me, question the source because like you, I too am a first time builder.

Thanks BadAsp427! My feelings do not get hurt and please criticize and direct where needed. In this arena I have no ego and want to build the best and safest rig I can. And you guys have already started helping put a dent into my wallet. I have been ordering from Breeze, Metco, ********** etc already based on everyones recommendations for additions and work arounds/ improvements.

Congrats Jonathan. Exciting times are ahead! Read through the build threads multiple times, as there are some nice nuggets of knowledge in each one that will keep you from doing things the wrong way or having to do them 2 or 3 times. Well, that's actually expected, but at least you can keep it to a minimum. :) Also, plan out the extras that you want to add ahead of time as well. It will keep your build rolling along, as the worst thing is having to wait for parts that you could have had ahead of time. McMaster Carr is your friend.

And just in case you haven't read it, here's a good read while you are waiting...

The evening my kit arrived I was so excited I downed 3 beers to calm myself down so I could sleep. It didn’t work!

Get yourself a set of REAL pads for your jackstands.

Don’t rush.

Also know the kit is quite refined nowadays so here’s to less cuss words and busted knuckles!

They really are in demand. I have wrenching on cruisers since the early 90s. I love how heavy duty they are. The flywheel on it looks like it came off a UPS truck LOL!

I'd pull the choke out just enough to idle it up, put it in 4 Wheel Low, and idle though the woods like a tractor through a farm field.
It would only get used in September (Teal Season), then November through January 31st for Duck, Pouldeau & Dos Gris season.
Only occasionally did I drive it in the summer.

Pouldeau:...Coot / Water Chicken
Dos Gris:....Lesser Scaup / Blue Bill Lake Duck

The pre 74's had a 3 speed with a true rock crawler gear in 4WD low. They are built like tractors which make it fun to wrench on :)
