Finally got my kit and doing inventory. So far I am missing 5 items that are checked as being included. They range from short 1 spacer to the fuel filler neck. Not exactly easy to miss. Is this normal? I realize I will let them know whats missing and they will resend but it seams strange to miss large items.

I had a few items that were missing that were checked off. They included the Factory Five badges, some wire loom and the hood hinges. I just sent an e-mail to Factory Five.

I wasn’t missing any big items. I was missing the shoulder bolts for the the hood hinges (I think it was the hinges), a couple small brackets and some electrical wire.

On the other hand now.... My backorder list was quite extensive, and lots of it were significant parts and needed for early in the build. When I reached out to FFR to inquire on target dates, all I was told was I will get a fedex shipment notification when they send it to me. A month later I discovered some people were receiving parts I had not and upon sending another email, a few parts were sent. Fortunately they were the parts I was wanting so I could move forward. Sounds like backordered parts is just part of building these toys, so Im not going to get twisted over it and will enjoy the journey.

Are you sure the missing items aren't in the box of items that were originally on your POL but added to your shipment just before leaving FFR? As for normal, there are a lot of parts to assemble, and although unfortunate, mistakes happen. FFR will get you every last part on your order as quickly as they can once you let them know what was missing. The worst mistake on my order was getting three clutch cables instead of one clutch cable and two e-brake cables.

My backordered list was pretty long too. Some of the big items were front lower control arms, steering wheel, interior carpet and seats. I'm not sure if that's normal or if COVID is backing stuff up, but I've got aluminum panels that should keep me busy for some time.

I did consider they may be in another box but i already opened the Spare late add box. I do have 4 boxes left so we will see what I end up with. I think the fuel filler was what. through me. How do you miss a 3 inch diameter 2 foot pipe.

Actually the backorder list is pretty small. Side pipes, rear shocks, steering wheel, radiator and lug nuts

I received my front lower control arms, steering wheel boss, headlights, headlight switch and radiator this last weekend. As I said, I sent an email asking for a target date and they got those items out within a couple days. I’ll be sending a friendly email every 30 days or so.

One thing to add about the inventory process:

Consider making a copy of your inventory list and tape/attach the individual sheets on each of the corresponding boxes as you complete the process.
It will make life a lot easier to locate the needed parts as you start to install them on your car.
This part of the build is important because you also getting familiar with the components.
Also, it took my wife and I about 14 hours to complete the inventory.
It was NOT a fun process as you are finding out, but necessary.

FF does miss things, even large items so it is critical to do a good inventory. What I found is the best thing to do if you are not getting the parts in a timely manner is to call them. They seem to wait until they have a lot of the backordered parts in house before they ship.
