Just wanted to give you a heads up for Texas guys trying to renew registration. I was finally successful, but had to make an appointment and actually go into the only open office in Austin. Normally I would be able to go to a satellite office closer to my house, but they are all closed due to Covid. I tried renewing online with no luck, tried calling txdmv, who told me to call the local tax office. I called the Travis county tax office and the person couldn't help. She said that my plate (custom vehicle plates) were showing as invalid plates. When I finally got an appointment and went into the tax office in Austin, the first person couldn't figure it out either. Once a supervisor came out, it was easily fixed by going to a hidden screen in the system. Hopefully others in Texas will have better luck.

That's lame.. and.. I'm not surprised.
This last registration I had to do (jan) uncovered a number of errors in their system around my car.
I spent a good amount of time in the tax office (pre covid) getting it all sorted out. Fingers crossed we got it all correct this time.
The people at the office were sure I'd be able to re-new online... but their supervisor seemed to think I'd have to do it in person every time.
Which.. means I'll most likely be doing what you had to do... thanks for the headsup.

My first TX custom vehicle registration renewal is up next month. We will see how it goes. Thanks for posting your experiences.

So glad that in Missouri you can get a year of manufacture plate. I have a 1965 plate, and never have to go through any of that.

I have renewed my Texas Custom Plates on line pre COVID three times without any issues. Comes up again in November.

Sorry to hear about your issues.
I renewed my Texas custom plates online last month with no issues at all.
Renewed mine online 3 times so far.
