I ordered a few small parts from Watson's Streetworks the other day, and received their catalog along with my order. One item that caught my eye was their "hot rod cup holder (https://watsons-streetworks.com/product/swing-out-cupholder/)" (P/N 43053). I'd really like to have cup holders in my roadster, but I'd prefer to not have visible cup holders in the center console. These swing out to use, and at 3-1/2" wide they look like they could mount on the underside of the dash and be hidden when retracted, and swing out when needed. Has anyone tried these? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I really like these, as I would like to have cup holders that don't show. But at $128 a pair for the black ones, I might be looking for something cheaper.

They're definitely pricey for what they are, but they're one of the few options I've come across that can be stowed out of sight when not needed.

I have that one in my car. Expensive yes, but really nice and goes away when folded in under the dash.

Nice - thank you! Glad to hear that you like it. How's the size? I'm not looking to hold a Big Gulp or anything like that, as long as it'll hold a paper coffee cup or a bottle of water. Are cups pretty stable in it?

The hole measures 3 inches across. The swing down metal part will hold in cans or anything smaller than 3 inches. Things don't fall out, but the cup I use in the pic below will rattle around a bit.

I love how you did the sectioned dash panels, gauges, switches etc.

Thanks,

Came from Brown County Customs. I don't know if they still make them or not.

Can you share a bit about how it mounts? I have the FFR padded (plastic) dash and doubt the front lip would support any weight, but it does well with the Breeze dash supports and I could see using something a bit heavier as a possible mounting surface.

Thanks,
Dave

It just mounts with one bolt going from the bottom of the cup holder through a spacer bushing and then through the dash support. The cup holder pivots on that bolt. My car has the replicaparts full underdash panel and the brown county dash, both of which are fairly heavy duty and create a very solid unit. If you didn't have that, you would need to put something solid under the dash to mount it where I have mine.
