Hi all,
I hope you all are well.
YEA!! I finally was able to title my Mk4 in Florida and it took ONLY 3 months. Because the CoO says it is a "Replica" DMV refused to title it because Factory Five is not registered as a Replica Manufacturer in Florida. After three months of emails and phone calls to local and Tallahassee offices, the FLHSMV field office in Jacksonville called up Mark from the Ocala office to help. Finally someone who knows haw to do it and has done 12 or so for Tom Wallace. He titled it as an ASPT KIT CAR.

So...if you need help in titling in Florida, I recommend you talk to Mark in the Ocala FLHSMV office. Hope your builds are going well,
Jeff

Ocala has always been easy to work with. I have done 13 kits with them.

I have an appointment in Orlando on the 22nd of this month. Any issues with going to get it done in Ocala? I had called the Clermont office which is close to my house, just in Lake County instead of Orange where I live, and they told me I had to go to an Orange County office? I can easily head up to Ocala if they allow it.

As of 2020 you must go to the office that does your county. Ocala will not do you cause your address. Sorry.:(

Hi,
It seems to be up to the particular office you go to. I would first call Ocala office of FLHSMV and ask to speak to Mark. Then tell him your situation.
I had to have an "INSPECTION" which frightened me. So I had the car almost complete with all receipts and papers. The "insjpectin" by Mark turned out to be just looking for the FRAME NUMBER. No sweat. He didn't inspect anything else. Probably you don't even have to be complete and running. Just trailer the roller there.
But ask Mark first. Perhaps he can go to Orlando like he came to JAX.
Good luck!!
Jeff

Jeff,

Was the key titling it as an ASPT KIT CAR. I am in the Tampa area and have just started my build a couple of weeks ago.

What all documentation did you have to provide? Any other tips besides calling Mark?

Thanks,
Michael

Congrats on the title !!!
Must have been a crazy 3 months. I'm getting ready to retire and will be building a MK4, live in Orange Park.
If you ever have time would really like to talk to you about your build and the process of getting a title.

I just got a title and it was about a 1 minute ordeal. I called and made an appointment with the DMV to get the car inspected. They sent me a packet of paperwork to complete which I did and returned it to them with pictures of my car. The inspection localion was Orange City, it was the center that was assigned to my home location. I took a weight slip with me and after checking the vin and just a quick overlook of my car and that was it. They were very nice to work with.

Got mine done in Orlando a couple of weeks ago. Was a 30 minute experience and they didn't even ask to see the car. They took the weight off of the COO. Walked out with plate and temp registration. Registered as 65 Factory Five
