I've been thinking about doing this since I sold my last project car for scrap. After 10 years, my homemade tube frame rusted out, and it was beyond saving. It was my daily driver even in the snow, but the POR15 was no match for road salt. I started it in 2007, and finished it in 2009 as all electric with lithium ion batteries. Fiero suspension parts, custom fiberglass-on-foam body. Only 80hp, but it was a lot of fun to drive. This March, I sold it on Ebay for parts. So now I'm planning to do an 818C with a Tesla transaxle Kit from EV West. It's been done before, so I don't think it's too crazy, but I think performance will depend on what kind of traction I can get, and what kind of batteries I can fit in there. Hopefully I should be able to get right around 500hp into the drive, and maybe 450hp at the rear wheels. I'll definitely be leaning on the group here for advice on performance suspension parts, tires, wheels, etc.

Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement. One of the reasons I decided to go with a Factory Five Kit was reading through the Forum here. I was super impressed with the quality and details of the posts. I'm a member of other forums and this one stands out.

I'm excited too. I've had trouble sleeping lately trying to anticipate what I should do and when I should do it! The good news is that I know it fits, because it's been done. I'll just need to get special axles and hubs, and figure out the best way to mount it. (google EV controls electric 818) He started out with just the rear drive unit, and was doing under 10 second quarter miles. He later added a front drive unit and got down to 9 seconds! I'm planning to just use the rear drive unit and optimize the car around it. That model S drive is a superb piece of engineering. The battery will be the tricky part.
