View Full Version : blueprint motor ct inspection
I am wondering about getting through CT DMV inspection with a Blueprint motor in your car? Were there any problems? What paperwork was required?
Thank you
Bruce
Not sure how helpful this will be, but it's what I came across:
CONNECTICUT
Emissions inspections are required every two years. The state notifies registered vehicle owners of an upcoming test date 45 days in advance of when the test is due to be conducted.
Diesel Vehicles:
Diesel vehicles are required to be tested in the same manner as gasoline powered vehicles
Exemptions:
1. New vehicles for the newest four (4) model years
2. Motor vehicles twenty-five (25) model years old and older
3. Vehicles with a GVWR of more than 10,000 lbs
4. Vehicles registered as composite vehicles
5. Full electric-powered (non-hybrid)
6. Vehicles registered but not designed primarily for highway use
7. Vehicles with Dealer, Repairer, or Transporter Plates

Not sure how much this helps either, but our OE ford engine blocks are the 85-95 roller blocks. occasionally a 1996 or 1997 block rolls in. I have had several customers tell me their states require a 1995 or older block, so I make sure on those builder, its one of the 1995 or older blocks.
Our 427 fords are an aftermarket block. No OE date codes. not sure if that helps or hurts.
our GM engines have an option for a new block, or OE casting.
Acording to CT to register a composite car with an engine from 1989 to 1995 will require the following components: PVC, variable advance distributor, evap. canister, CAT, computerized engine management, O2 sensor. From 1996 to present requires: PVC, electronic spark control, evap, canister, CAT, closed loop computerized engine management, O2 sensors, fuel injection.
That's why I ask has anyone gone through CT inspection with a carburetor crate motor. All is ok but the CATS, it means a custom built exhaust. I am trying to keep it simple with a carb. If anyone has gone through CT inspection with a carburetor crate motor please let me know what happened.
Thank you

I have had customers get through just fine with our EFI offerings, since everything on your list is included with the EFI equipped engine. (other than mounting cats in your exhaust as you noted)
Maybe there is an area of the forum where people can offer assistance by state, or list their registered state if they so choose, to help others.
I do get the registration questions from time to time, and it'd be nice to point people in a direction.
Maybe message David-Hodgkins and see if such a thing exists.
