133262Just wanted to formally introduce myself. I have been lurking for a while and finally building a second garage with lift and decided it was time to commit to a project I have yearned for years.... a MK4 FFR build. I have already ordered a Blueprint engine 347 carbureted TKO600 transmission combo. I know.... not a 427.... I had a few issues for me being price, HP/ drive-ability... Carbureted cause I am a carb guy with some of my other rigs I have being carburetors. If I decide later on to do EFI I will cross that rubicon when it is time. I plan on ordering a complete kit in the next couple of months. I have decided on the 3 link rear end, 17" wheel/tire combo, power steering and assorted add ons. My background for this project includes a 6 year build out of my 1978 fj40 Landcruiser for rock crawling ( 4.5" lift, 1.5" shackle lift, power steering conversion, disc brake conversion, front end rebuild with front diff locker installed and assorted extras and rebuilds on it) and I own and keep running a horse farm which includes tractors/ hydraulic repair. So I think I have a good base on wrenching and feel comfortable tackling this project. Anyway, wanted to say HI! I look forward to learning from you guys and please forgive many stupid questions coming your way..... But before I ask I will use the search feature :)
Welcome! Your build plan is very similar to what I did. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Thank Mark. She has been a labor of love. When I got her years ago she had more rust than steel. I have really enjoyed getting it back to a respectable off road rig but I am really looking forward to a build which I don't have to fight with seized and broken bolts.
And I see you are a Surgeon. I am a Radiologist. I was reading your opening build thread. I hear ya about selling your rig for medical school. I had a 1973 FJ40 I was restoring that I sold to help pay for medical school in the 90s.

Welcome and you’ll do fine building the roadster. Love your FJ, one of my favorite true 4x4’s.

Wecome Aboard!
The 347 will give out pleanty of power and pleanty of grins.
Regarding your FJ, Dang I still miss my Beat To Hell, Go Anywhere, Marsh Buggy P.O.S. Landcruiser!

Thanks Kyle. I appreciate the vote of confidence. Unlike my cruiser I am putting quite a bit of funs up front rather than along the way. Different experience for sure. I have truly loved my different FJ40s I have had over the years. We call them Jeep eaters LOL! They are over built on a whole different level. It is more like working on a tractor than a vehicle.
Thanks Steve. I think the the 347 will be loads of fun and I really wanted a more vintage feel with power for fun cruising the back roads of the Appalachian foothills that I live in ( North Eastern Alabama). When I had a chance I snatched up this cruiser about 15 years ago after I was out of medical school and had some extra cash. I still miss my 1973 fj40 I sold all of those years ago.
