View Full Version : Finally getting some driving in

All I can say guys and girls, is drive these cars whenever you can! I’ve had my since 2003, and almost at (only) 11,000 miles. Not enough miles!

I originally built my car with the thought of a daily driver with EFI, high back seats, etc. Over the years I evolved (or regressed, depending on your view) to carbs and traditional seats, along with lots of other mods. More so, I found myself doing these mods into the summer, along with a busy work schedule and little ones to tend to. There seemed to always be a reason or snag to not be driving it. Now, except for a minor oil leak, the car is exactly how I want it (subject to change tomorrow). I’m trying to take as many short runs as possible, to enjoy the car as much as possible, for the short driving season in the Northeast.

I also finally got my GoPro mounted and functioning properly. Just to show you how time flies, it’s a Hero3!

Here’s a few pics. I may upload a video too.

In total agreement with you. Put some miles on these things!

Thanks Kyle!

Here’s a quick one from the other day, I’ll load up some others, these GoPro files are huge!

Nice! Love the color. I can’t believe that car is 17-years-old. Personally, I’ve put to few miles on my regular car with working from home this year. The Cobra has been on the road since October last year and I’m already at 3500 miles and am contemplating a Utah trip this fall at around 1500 miles.

Quick question, it looks like you’re preparing for installing ferrules in the doors, is that for windows and a top?

Got my MK3.1 on the road in Nov'19 after just more than 11 years building. Any time it felt like work, I put up the tools and walked away. Corporate America and Family would sometimes result in 6 to 9 month periods of zero progress. Took SloPoke out for a spin this morning and rolled just over 5700 on the odometer before I got home.

Thanks. She got a respray two years ago, after someone 'touched' the rear in traffic. Same colors as originally done in 2004. Early 2000s Dodge Ram blue / silver.

Yes, in the process of putting in the ferrules (thanks @RButton) into the doors for the side curtains. I've had an APE top for almost 8 years, finally got that painted this year. May have it all done for the fall, but we'll see. Trying to keep my hands off of it, and just drive!

Same here on the daily driver, collecting dust, considering selling it!

I bought the Whitby top and tonneau and love both of them! Especially, the tonneau. They both can make a big difference in hot, sunny weather too.

Good to know. I debated soft or hard top, ended up with the hardtop at the time. Liking your tonneau, may be the first ‘driving’ one I’ve seen on a Factory Five. Very cool.

BTW, congrats on POM for July. Beautiful car and beautiful color. I enjoyed your build thread. Noticed you did a similar mod as me, adding ‘quad’ switches to the left side of your standard dash.

Thanks, I’ve enjoyed the mod process as much as the build process.
