Nice ride. Very clean appearance. How about some specs on the engine and drive line?

Thanks everyone for your positive comments. The AC Cobra has been my favorite car since the 70's, so I'm extremely happy to finally own one, let alone drive one. I even had a Mustang Cobra all done up in the 80's (405hp, fully manual stage 3, 3500 stall, etc), so I'm definitely not a bandwagon jumper (Cobra wannabe's coming out of the woodwork after watching Ford vs Ferrari) but I'm a true Ford, Shelby and Cobra fan!

It's a MKI FFR. Lots redone just 2000miles ago, including new "old school 302" with a Quick Fuel 750 double pump carb, air gap manifold, aluminum heads, MSD A2 ignition, K&N air filter, BBK 5.0L reverse headers, Tremec 5 speed and 3:83 gears. Had Cobra tuned locally by old school small block Ford specialist (drag racer). This old school 302 with these gears and 5 speed I think fits this car perfectly. This MKI Cobra is as bare bones as you can get, weighing only 1985lbs dry weight (+ I weigh only 145lbs). This Snake pulls real hard and still revs at only 2000RPM when cruising at 60mph on the hwy. Not sure if you can have more fun in a car than these F5 Cobra Replica's, as power vs weight ratio is everything. These replica's are basically a Go Cart on steroids...

Although I do like Shelby stripes and have always related the AC Cobra with these stripes, I like how this turned out, as the solid colour maybe makes it look a bit different? The colour is 02 Viper Blue and looks quite dark in the shade/night, but really pops in the sun and under lights. I don't like blacking out everything, but like the sidepipes and rollbar black, kind of offsetting the classy solid blue colour with a bit of toughness.

Very nice. I do like the black pipes & roll bar with no stripes. Not that you can ever call one of these cars subtle but....
One from BC and one from New Zealand finishing in the same week. The internationals are showing out!
Congratulations. How long did the build take?

Looks fantastic! I am painting mine similar but in 08 Viper Bright Blue. This gives me something to shoot for. Really does pop in the sun.

Thanks. I look forward to seeing yours when you get it painted. The 02 Viper Blue looks much darker in the shade and really does pop under the sun or lights.

From any angle those are the sexiest cars on the road. When I was a kid in 1965 and I saw my first Cobra on TV I was hooked. I had a Cobra slot car in the mid 60's (yes I'm old) when there were slot car tracks all over the place. When I was seventeen in 1969 and had my 57 Chevy (thinking I was a bad ***) a real Cobra pulled up next to me at a stop light, I wanted to try to run him just to here it take off, but was so mesmerized by the sound I just followed him till he pulled over with an attitude ( probably thinking what does this punk want) I told him I just wanted to look at his car. Then the attitude changed and he couldn't say enough about it and gave me a ride and scared the crap out of me....and it's been a love affair ever since. Finally this August 50 years later I picked up my own at FFR and almost have it to the go kart stage. So it won't be long and I'll be taking pictures of the other woman as my wife calls it.

To ggunter; I am also an “oldie” planning a Roadster build. Can you tell us about the drivetrain and why you chose it? I am thinking snall block ford around 300 hp and 5 speed for street use only. Comments? Good luck w build

I went with the 347 from Blueprint Engines, with the TKO 600 five speed. I bought their engine and trans combo. It is advertised at 410 hp and 410 torque. The Dino sheet that came with mine is 416/430 so I am pleased with that. My goal is to have this car road worthy by Christmas. Otherwise I would have built an engine, which I love told do. ( for twenty years I built heavy truck engines) Blue print builds these specifically for FFR in this car and there are things you have to do that are already done from them.I bought the rear, wheels and tires from FFR. Although everyone loves to put a 427 in their car ( just because) the amount of torque and power can make these cars a hand ful to handle. From what everyone says the 400 hp range is a good sweet spot for these cars. My chassis is done and if I had the headers and radiator I could go cart it. I love building this car. It has been much more fun than I thought it would be.

great looking car!

I'm leaning toward solid colored option, no stripes, some shade of blue. I think these pics almost convince me to go with black exhaust (currently it's SS, but the roll bars are black)
