Gents,
Just had my NC inspection, this is what they are telling me. This is a new build with all receipts for proof of ownership.
""Factory Five Racing Inc is not a NHTSA Vin Manufacturer due to this you will need to Bond the vehicle. Fill out the MVR-55 as well as the MVR92H forms that are attached. I will send a report up today to get your NCS numbers ordered for your vehicle. I will contact you when I receive the NCS numbers and schedule a time to apply the numbers."
What would my course of action be to get around this?
Thanks,
Brad

Get the bond will cost about $100 mail order IIRC. Seems random, some inspectors ask for one others don't, not worth the trouble of trying to fight it once its in the government paperwork. You just have to value the engine, transmission, rear-end not the whole kit because you have a certificate of origin from FFR for the kit.
EDIT IIRC If I Remember Correctly.

Oh that's great news! That's not worth arguing. What is IIRC?

I don't think I had to do this. I did have an issue getting my title as the car was originally built in VA. An officer (carrying a firearm) did come to my home to place 2 tags in my car. Took months before they would send the title though. Bureaucrat nonsense really

The NCDMV inspectors are armed as they are from the vehicle theft bureau.. Typically if the car has been titled before there is no bond required. What these "inspections" are really about is locating stolen equipment. My car has the two NCDMV stickers on it. Some of the guys don't have them & the NCDMV used the stamped FFR number instead, very loosey goosey - depends on who the inspector is.

So, I gently pushed the inspector and his boss on the bond requirement and he placed an inquiry into the Raleigh HQ. Long story short, I no longer need a bond. SMH....very happy though!
