View Full Version : Door filler/deadening ideas?

Looking for ideas to add some "beef" to the door assemblies. They are so light and the door panels are flimsy. And of course, people seem to think you have to slam the passenger door (it requires only a pinkie-pull..).
I have all of the rest of the interior covered in Noico mat and carpet, and really like the sound and feel of it.
Everyone likes to run the the Insta-Pak foam machine at work, which makes me think about a "layer" of 2 part foam on the inner shell surface.
Maybe Noico on the inside of the door panels, or foam board and adhesive?
'Ideas and experience please!

I plan to cover the inside with NOICO, then scuff it and paint with Raptor liner. I might also add some fiberglass ridges inside the door to stiffen the structure up.

If you have a window mechanism, there isn’t much room left for sound deadener. Also, it adds weight. And stop taking idiots for rides. I have.

I use damplifier pro by second skin audio inside the doors. Gives it a solid feel.

Henry,

How are your prepping the door surface for the damplifer?

Thanks,

Sean, I just vacuum them out and wipe down with acetone. Never had an issue after applying.

I plan on using a layer of Herculiner on the inside surfaces of all the panels. It will make them look more 'finished' and does a good job of deadening the sound without adding too much weight or thickness.

No window or mechanism- plenty of space!
I have spayed rubberized underbody coating on the inside of engine cover & trunk which I do like, and I plan to do the same to other body panels. Thinking that the doors need something more than spray coating (but maybe not...). Anyone do work with the door panels? Thanks for the ideas and comments.

I added sound deadening to inside of my doors to reduce vibrations. I used killmat which is similar to dynamat and others.133032
