Greetings from SW FL.

Some of you may know me from the other factory five forum where I have been posting (somewhat) regularly on the progress of my "reasonably authentic" 427 S/C build. As I presume you all know, that other forum underwent some changes and unfortunately the traffic seems to be way down. I always followed this forum and posted occasionally. Due to the forum situation, I have decided to begin to add my updates here. I have been the thankful recipient of many comments regarding the many mods that I have made to the basic building of this fabulous car to achieve my goal of reasonably authentic. Many of those comments included constructive criticisms about how I might make changes to my changes in order to achieve a better outcome. Those comments have been invaluable in terms of safety, appearance, reliability, etc.

The link to my extensive thread on the other forum is:
https://www.ffcars.com/threads/my-%E2%80%98reasonably-authentic%E2%80%99-427-s-c-build-log.494817/

It's a bit on the long side but with many pics that detail my mods and progress. This build has gotten a little long in the tooth. But I am getting close to the end and have many to thank in the broader FFR community. Adding my progress reports to this forum is another way for me to give back to this fabulous community. I hope that making this forum crossover meets with your approval.

All the best. Stay safe out there.
Ron

Hey Ron

What part of Sw Fl are you in? I am on Marco and will be getting my kit in about 2 weeks. Would love to see what you have done.

I went to visit Ron and see the car. He’s doing an awesome authentic job and it’s good to meet someone more anal than me! ;)

Henry:
How you doing? Been a year since London - seems longer. Thanks for your comment. One correction - we are equally anal !!
I need to come up to visit you at your place
Stay well

Doing good Ron and car is looking awesome. Hope you and your family are well? Both of you are welcome anytime. Currently have 3 Roadsters and 1 Coupe to see.

Just finished (2 days worth) Picah's build thread. You guys make the word "enthusiast" seem understated. I have seen Henry's work firsthand and he is a master, I would like to see the "reasonably authentic" Cobra sometime in the future when it is reasonably finished. Nice work both. Stay safe. Anthony

Ron, it’s good to see you post here. I’m in Punta Gorda with a Mk1. It is currently at Henry’s shop getting a rebirth if you will. Major updates and changes. My Googling for some authentic items or ideas seemed to often link to your thread on the other forum. You do amazing work. You’ve done things I’ve only dreamed about doing. (visible roll bar for example)
Some day if you’re willing, I’d love to see your work of art in person.
Be well.

EDIT: I was proud of myself for scoring 3 NOS Trico manual push pump windscreen washer buttons with the correct logo! Nothing compared to what you’ve done.

Reminded of the very cool silver/gray Cobra pictures on Picah's build post, will you also have the reasonably authentic "misaligned" windscreen wipers? lol

The good news is I’m going with no wipers. Will carry clip-ons in the trunk when it appears necessary

Had a chance to read through that build post about a week ago actually. Really great job Ron! Some creative new things in there and I'm very impressed with all of the ideas you have been incorporating, as well as the solid documentation and photos. I know how much time it takes to put all of that together for everyone to view through.

Appreciate the dedication to originality as well, as its a key focus for my build too. My project has been on hold for 8-9 years as life got busy very quickly, but all good. Finally have a little time to start mine up again and I really enjoyed reading through your post for some inspiration. Again, awesome job and I look forward to your next update!
