Today was supposed to be First Start with my MK4. Everything seemed ok. Mechanical seemed fine, hooked up battery and tested in Batt/ACC/Start mode and verified I was getting voltage to all the gauges, lights, horn, fuel pump, etc. I did all this with the dash pulled away from the frame so I could get to it. When I went to push the dash onto the steering column base (Russ Thompson Turn Signal), the 10amp lighting fuse blew when the aluminum dash contacted the base. I have the complete kit and using the RF Harness. Nothing special added and thought I wired according to the directions. I have the Vintage Gauges set, but added an oil temp gauge. Only switches I have are Ignition, Lights, High Beam, Hazards, Heater, Seat Heaters.

Any thoughts on what I should check first given this scenario, or advice on how to start troubleshooting this?

Move the dash clear of the steering column and other car frame. Replace the fuse and put a meter on the aluminum dash and touch the car frame. Unless you used the alum dash for a ground source, you should not show any current.

Did you tape up the connections on the key switch?
Lotsa connections behind my dash.

Thanks. I had a couple bare connections that must have been touching when I crammed all the wires in to mount the dash. I sealed those and the terminals on the switches. That solved that issue, but now have a much bigger one. Think I'll start a new thread so as not to confuse. Really appreciate the help.
