Does anyone know the part number or where I can source the breather vent tube for a 8.8 IRS pumpkin?
I’ve misplaced my old one.
Thanks
Joey

Seems the later ones are now plastic. I had to drill our an aluminum one from mine (broken off during shipping) and then use an easy out. My replacement was aluminum from Tasca Ford about 9 years ago.

Get rid of that and tap it for 1/8" NPT, install a standard thread-in vent or get a NPT fitting to attach a hose and make it remote mounted.

Is there an issue with getting any shavings ing this n the rearend?
I had mine out of the car and had it turned upside down when I drilled it and got the broken part out. I worked very slow and tried my best to keep debris out of the case. The case had not had any oil in it yet.
Yes, you need to take it out of the car to drill it out and tap threads or if you so chose to as Weendoggy mentioned drill and tap for a fitting.
Now, go to that thread I posted above and read through it. Some have come up with 'somehow' attaching a tube to run up higher in the chassis. I'm going to attach a tube to the press fitted part in the case with a screen at the top end to allow the case to breath and still keep oil in the case.

A short piece of 3/16" brake hose will fit the hole perfectly. Put a small bend of flare in it so it can't fall through into the case.

i used the ford part and mounted the vent high to help avoid foaming and spillage under racing conditions.
