My MKIV Roadster has a short to ground in the wiring that is behind the dash board. I need to pull the dash out to get at it. Unfortunately, there are two screws on the both sides of the dash that are impossible to get at without pulling the body off. Hindsight being our best friend in any build, I would have mounted the dash in a different way then stated in the build manual. I'm thinking of masking off the edge of the body that overlaps the top of the dash, and cutting the dash out with a cutoff wheel. Then, installing a new dash with mounts that can be accessed from the front. Have any of you ran into this problem? If so, please share your solutions. Again, I would prefer not to remove the body. Thank You!
I had the same issue, i ended up getting a hacksaw that has the handle on one end of the blade and cutting the screws off from under the dash, was a pain but worked.
If you dont know what hacksaw im talking about let me know and i will post a picture of it.

I have one of those hacksaw blade holders. Passenger side is wide open. Driver’s side is a problem. Speedo and lots of wiring in that corner!

Take the speedo out so you can see behind to not cut the wiring. Unless your dash is completely covered below.

remove the rear view mirror and see if you can lift the body enough to get at the screws.

I did that on the middle 3 but the ones on the ends you cant.
Thinking about it , i think i unplugged the speedo and took the 2 knobs off and pulled it out and could get to the screw to cut it off.

You need to cut between the back of the dash and the 3/4 inch tube the screw goes in too.
