Not too concerned yet but there is a good chance it may not happen. Dave cancelled HB and the open house this morning.

PEI was just cancelled by NV (Clark Co. on the rise) and it's date was Oct. 11-14. I don't see how SEMA's going to be able to have their show 2 weeks later.

They have already cancelled the Consumer Electronics show in January, not holding my breath for SEMA in Nov.

From SEMA's web page:

"In addition to adhering to best practices, the following measures will be implemented by the SEMA Show during the 2020 event:

Require use of face masks or face shields, frequent hand washing and social distancing
Require all visitors to confirm that they are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19, have not recently been exposed to anyone who has tested positive, and reasonably believe that they do not have the virus
Secure venue to allow only qualified Showgoers onto a closed campus both indoors and outdoors
Designate entrance and exit areas to control and screen visitors with discrete daily health queries, incorporating non-invasive thermal cameras, etc.
Reduce number of people at registration by promoting preregistration and mailing of badges
Rearrange onsite registration to reduce touch points and add satellite registration stations to reduce traffic and lessen density
Configure traffic flow with one-way aisles where possible
Install hand sanitizing stations throughout the Show, 200 feet apart
Enhance physical cleaning with hourly sanitizing of high traffic areas throughout the Show floor and common areas, including doorways, elevators, and escalators
Collaborate with Las Vegas Convention Center in their advancements to be among the first in the nation to pursue certification for safety measures aimed at outbreak prevention through actions such as sanitizing the facility nightly
SEMA staff, contractors, exhibit staff will be REQUIRED to follow SEMA safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment at all times, health queries, temperature checks, frequent hand washing, etc. Exhibitor Appointed Contractors (EAC) and union labor will also be REQUIRED to follow SEMA safety protocols, as well as ESCA safety guidelines.

I'm in a high risk group so I am not going to attend this year. I don't see any way to maintain a safe "social distance" at the Show no matter how well intended the staff and attendees are.

Hi Everyone

Yes, SEMA is really trying hard to make the show happen this year. Only time will tell if they will be able to pull it off. I think it will come down to the city of Las Vegas and the state of Nevada, if they let them go ahead, it will happen. They are really pushing to get people to come, I get an email every week or two reminding me to register.

I agree with Ray, it is hard to envision social distancing at the SEMA Show! My wife is high risk and so far the Canadian / US boarder is still closed, so I will have to pass this year. Even if the boarder opens up, I would still probably have to self-isolate for 14 days when I returned - I don't think they would be to happy with me at work. I guess there is always 2021 to look forward to.

SEMA won't have the final say no matter what they print on their site. It'll come down to the state of NV. When other organizations are denied and one allowed, I see a lot of legal stuff in the future.
