I'm finalizing my CAD to have all my holes in the dash lasered out. Should I worry about adding a couple extra mm to the diameter of the holes to account for the thickness of the leather I'm using to cover the dash or not? Taking the small gauges as an example, just do a 2" hole and call it a day or add in a couple mm? Is it better for the holes to be super tight or have some play?

i think most have the holes cut a bit larger to account for the dash material wrapping around the opening, secured to the back of the dash w/ glue. I suppose you could cut the dash material right at the opening and allow the bezel of the gauge to cover the cut edge. .

Have done it both ways, two different dashes. Like the smaller size hole with the material trimmed to its edge. Bezels have more than enough overlap to cover the dash material.
