Stupid questions.

What antifreeze type should I use in my Coyote Gen 2 and approx. How much to fill from bone dry ?

While I on it, an recommendation for power steering fluid for the same (and the PS rack from FFR)

Thanks.

For the power steering I bought the KRC fluid since my pump is KRC. I hear that Honda makes about the best PS fluid out there though.

Coyote is an aluminum block engine, so Dex-Cool would be a good choice. That is what is used in my 2012 F150. It was formulated specifically for aluminum blocks and radiators.

I, too, use dexcool. The ONLY downside of dexcool is that it is the same color as ATF... (don't ask)

I used distilled water upon startup and it took about 3.25 gallons (have the Moroso alum expansion tank)

After I established no leaks and all good I flushed out and replaced with PEAK COOL (dex cool). This was much cheaper than the ford spec stuff as I think I paid $10/gal.

For power steering fluid I used the Honda Brand fluid given all the positive reviews. I have a hydro boost + power steering setup so a little more line. Bought this 3 pack off amazon and only used maybe 1.25-1.5 bottles with a Moroso fill tank. Actually filled twice as my power steering rack blew a gasket on first start and much of this stuff is now one with the driveway. :)

Thanks all

nuhale - thanks for all the detail

Al_C - noted on the similarities. I have my own war story on that one ...

Thanks again

The PEEK COOL and DEX-Cool are not the same, the Peek is compatible with Dex. For a new engine, I think you can use any of the 'new' coolants, red, orange, or yellow, just don't use the old green or blue. I would pick one brand and stay with it, don't mix brands but that's jmo. DEX-COOL is the only thing I'll put in both the car and truck as thats what is in there now.

I am using Lucas power steering fluid, rated for use in Honda. Only 500+ miles, but seems to be good stuff.
