Went for a drive since we are going on Vaca next week so wanted to get some seat time in. Still keeping it local just in case.
As I was coming out of a round about the car seemed to stall but then picked up again and seemed fine. So took the long way through town ( funny how you end up doing that it these cars) but then it started sputtering and eventually klunked out. I was able to coast into the side of the road.
Check under the hood and there was no fuel pressure, although my fuel gauge still read full. Called my son who fortunately wasn’t working for a change and he brought a 5 gal tank of gas. Re filled the car and it started right up. Guess my gas gauge is not working. I calibrated it with about 2-3 gal on empty then went to the gas station and filled it up after which I calibrated full.
Not sure if it’s the gauge or the sending unit but will have to calibrate again I suppose.
Took a few pics as I was waiting and tested out the 4 ways.

you can see how I wired the tail lights with the trailer pack to have all 4 lights be blinkers. You can also see the motor cycle lights in the rear hatch area. I put those in for better visibility for (pick up) trucks.
In this one you see the halo/ blinkers in the head lights too.

Glad it was a simple fix and I didn’t have to do the “day tow na” !!
How many miles are you guys seeing on a tank of gas? From calibration I got about 180 miles. Thought the tank is about 16 gal at 20 mpg should give me about 320 mile range.

Did the same thing with my first Cobra. Now you’ll know. And I still think that looks like Darth Vader’s personal ride.

My fuel mileage varies from around 10 while running around the track, to about 16 city, and 21-25 highway ( if you keep your foot out of it)

Gen 2 coupe, 347 FI, T5, 3.55 gears.

I have a 347 also, so with those numbers it makes a lot more sense. Thanks for sharing!

John, I did something similar after taking her out just after getting legal and as I drove up from Kennebunk beach towards the port, I ran out of gas. Had to sit until my wife came by with a can of fuel that I had kept specifically for testing out the roadster. Glad that is all it was for you as well.

Yeah, they don't run without gas :p

Speedhut gauges I presume? I've set them up using both manual method (i.e.; setting the empty and then filling it to set full) like you did as well as simply using the default Ford sender 16-158 ohm calibration setting and found that to be both easier and spot on accurate.

I’ll have to see if that is in my instructions, if not I’ll shoot you a PM to see if you can share that wisdom!!

Thanks Jeff

Jeff,

This is what came with my gauges. Only the factory preset was the 16-158. That didn’t do anything though which is why I calibrated manually.
No option to put in the ohm range according to the manual. Will have to look at it once I’m back.

well I did the same thing sorta today - went out for a long ride today to Nashville and back - about 240 miles - managed over 25 MPG ... on the off ramp off the highway coming home I decided to take it at speed - Had about 1/3 tank left.... took the off ramp faster than I should have... all the gas was pushed away from the pickup - car shutoff... mind you I didn't realize that this was the issue until about 15 minutes later... after sitting on the side of road climbing all over it.... lol... oops! turned the key saw that I now had 50 PSI - and it fired off just fine - drove to the first gas station and filled that beast back up.... I guess the new fuel pump is a little thirsty :)
