Hi everyone,
I have a question for people who have put coupes on lifts. I'm planning to install a lift (probably a MaxJax). I need to know how far in from the garage door to set the posts. This measurement will quite literally be set in stone because I'll be removing and replacing concrete to reinforce the floor where the posts will go. I'll be doing this before I get the lift and before I get my kit.

My garage is small: 18' W X 20' D. I'd like to keep the lift close to the door to maximize room at the front of the garage where my tools and compressor reside.

So with a coupe (with body) on the lift and the arms about equal length, what is the measurement from the tip of tail to the backside of the post? I'll add a foot or so to give me a bit of room to work even with the door closed.

Thanks!
Philip

There are a lot of variables. First . How far does your garage door extend into the garage itself? Second how tall is the garage door? Those dimensions are what determines where the lift goes. In my shop I have 2 10 ft doors that have quide rails for the rollers angled up at 15 degrees to follow the roofline so I can optimize what can fit on my Bend Paks. In my case most every thing fits with the doors open except SUV.s. I know that you are some what limited on where you can locate things I just don't want you to make an expensive mistake. Good Luck. There are a lot of variables depending on the lift and what type of arms you are using. Hate to say it, but in a 20' garage things are going to get very tight especially when you open the nose.
