I'm trying to plan out how everything is going to fit behind the dash and I came up with this for a mounting location for the power steering control unit. See any reason it couldn't live here?

Looks good.
Just don't run the wires on the outside of the front frame the way shown in the manual. After removing my cab a couple of times, mine was shredded by the body fiberglass rubbing on it. Moved mine to inside of cab.
Just my suggestion.

Agreed! I extended mine and ran in main harness to the headlights.
