I'm trying to get my dash all wired up and I notice that I don't have any gauge dial light cables on any of my gauges. Is this a new design and the instructions haven't been updated, or did I receive defective gauges?
Thanks for any help

I always read the instructions included with stuff, it shows how things go together. You have a red, a black and a white wire.

If your Speedhut instructions don't explain what the wire colors mean, call them. There was another post a few weeks ago that noted a change to the Speedhut gauges where they've switched from electroluminescent backlighting to LED. This eliminated the inverter and (I guess) the dimming rheostat. Also maybe they're doing the backlighting and needles off the same power feed versus separately as before. That post explained that neither the Speedhut or Factory Five instructions reflected the change. You may be in the same situation.

Thanks for the tip. Your posts have really helped me a lot during my build. I really appreciate your knowledge and willingness to help out the rest of us idiots.

Would anyone happen to know the connector style on the triple wire (red, white, and black)? I damaged one and want to replace it. Speedhut didn’t have an answer other than it was 24 gauge wire. It’s the connector on the gauge itself.

Speedhut should be able to send you replacement connectors. I don't know what supplier they use, but I have gotten connectors from them to shorten some of the wires.

The white wire is for the gauge lights. Add in a potentiometer to control/dim brightness. I used one of these on my gauge and curtesy lights. They work well and have a good feel. These allow very fine adjustments because they go from 0 to 1,000 ohms at 100 Ohms per full revolution, ten revs. in all. Just splice it in the power feed. However, next time I'd try a 1,000 Ohm pot. without the extra fine adjustment.

I am installing my vintage gauges and want to incorporate dimming function. From forum posts I am assuming the gauges are LED not electroluminescent since there is no inverter?
