View Full Version : Hood issues.

I have followed threads on treating the low spots in the middle of the hood. Some use foam, but I have decided to fill with fiberglass. I have gotten it fairly level, but still struggle with the rear of the hood fitting flat on the front of the cab. Anyone else had that issue?
Mine seems to hit in the middle of the cab front centerline and thus prevents the outer edges of the hood fitting down flush with cab. Don't think weights on the sides would help much to get the sides to fit lower on a permanent basis. I can grind out some under the rear hood center, or where the hood fits on the cab, but rather not do that.
Any suggestions?

I'm looking at my hood everyday waiting for an "aha" moment - hope you get some good suggestions

Thanks, Hope so also.
Been taking a break from the doors, but the hood is not much better.

Spent all day yesterday putting the glass in the passenger door, did the drivers side today in about an hour, figured out that you need to install glass then trim door as required to accommodate weather seals (not yet done). tried wiring switches to +12 from choke, no power in Acc. mode; moved to heater feed wire, for power in both acc. and ign. mode. Had to modify door handle stalk and latch to clear glass on passenger side

Hood:I think I need to create a guide/receiver on the cab sides to positively position the hood to the closed position then secure with some type of latch pin. Don't want to clutter firewall with hood latch;
Fore and aft clearance already greater than I would prefer; I think I need to buildup and extend the front of the hood and reshape cowl
for a good fit, then just even up the back

You maybe could tilt radiator shroud a little to close the gap if it too wide. That's what I did.

Good idea for hood pins on the cab sides. I think that might solve my gap issue on the rear edges, if I can use the pins to force the edges down more flush.
That would eliminate whole cable hood latch mechanism.

Thanks, Ralph

Thats what I'm thinking; couple of cams on the sides to locate laterally, and pins to hold down flush; then deal with the front edge/cowl fitment by adding fiberglass
