Just another guy that hasn't owned a Roadster yet, but is ready to buy one. Preferably one that does need engine/trans work so I can finish it up and put my own engine in. Not opposed to any body work or other work as well. Would prefer to buy one that needs some work to finish or is already built but needs some TLC. Not partial to any Mark I/II/III/IV, anything would go depending on the condition/price.

Located near Austin, TX, willing to travel if needed but closer to home is preferable (private buyer). Let me know what you have and hopefully we can sort something out! Thanks all.

Did you see this one? Comes with some extra parts, and you can build it the way you want.

I have a buddy in Austin that is looking to sell his Mk2. It is a nice driver but definitely in need of some updates. Might be a good base for what you want to do. Message me if you want his contact info

Yes Sir, I saw that one. That would be a complete build for me which would take too much time to finish for when I would need it done and titled since work might move me around. I appreciate your reply, thank you!

A partially built car may save you some time, but if not done right, it could actually cost you time, re-doing it.
Take an experienced builder with you, if you go to look at a partial build. Some things may stand out, where others may take an experienced eye, to discern a potential issue.

I agree, starting from scratch can save a lot of headaches and I'd prefer that if I had the option. There's quite a big chance that my work will have me work overseas for some years by next year. In order to bring a Roadster it needs to be titled already. So that gives me two options; buying a kit that somebody is selling or buying one that is titled already needs TLC or finishing. If I'd buy a kit that needs finishing I need to have it titled before the summer of next year. Now body work, etc. I'm not concerned about, I can do that after I move possibly. But it will put me on a time crunch for sure. The enjoyment of the build process for me is having it as a hobby and not having to worry about deadlines. It is possible to build a kit and have it titled by spring, but my free time is very limited and the stress of not having it finished in time will take a lot of the pleasure of building away. So that leaves me to buying a titled car already or one that is partially build and needs to be titled, but doesn't have to be started from the ground up (like a roller). I found a nice one in Houston that was a roller but needed the drive train and all the body work, but that sold pretty quickly unfortunately. So the hunt continuous (which is quite enjoyable as well actually).
