After a nearly two year build, it’s finally done. I put the long version of the story on the other forum, but wanted to post here as well. This is my first attempt at ever doing anything like this, and a bit of a stretch for an office-bound IT geek like me. But it was a blast, and I'll do it again if I get the chance.

Here are the general specs: Non-donor build, 91 SBF roller block bored to 306, SRP forged pistons and moly rings, AFR 165 heads, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, Holley 570 Street Avenger carb, COMP Cam roller cam, lifters and rockers, Tremec T5z 5-speed, King Cobra clutch, 17 inch Team III wheels, Cobra 4-wheel power disks, 5-lug, 3:55 posi-lock 8.8 differential, Moser axles, 4-link, Koni coilovers, tubular UCA and LCA's, silver powder coat throughout, seat heaters, Classic Instruments, Ron Francis harness, BBK 4-into-4 headers, Gas-N side pipes.

Colors: Base is Ford Vermillion Red (E4), stripes are GM Arctic White (WA9567), full show cut/buff

My engine machine work and rotating assembly was done by D&S Motors/Motor City Muscle in Clawson, Michigan. I did the rough body work, panel install and general fitting. The final body work and paint was done by Phil Charette at New Reflections, Inc. in Howell, Michigan.

As of 09/28/2011, I am legal with a title on the way and temporary tags. Now finally I get to drive more than just the few go-karts around my neighborhood.

Beautiful! Hope you have as much fun driving it as you did building it.

Outstanding work! Did you do a partial drop-butt mod? I like the additional engine bay aluminum, and the paint is flawless. Paint codes?

That's a very, very nice build.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the kind remarks. No partial drop-butt mod. The body is in the stock location all around. Maybe what you're seeing is the original builder of the roller (Midwest Cobra and Classics in Toledo, OH. Full explanation in my longer post on the other forum) did a mod to raise the fuel tank so it doesn't show so much from the back. They also made the extra engine bay parts, although I did change the driver side a bit to fit around the power brake booster. Both were kind of trademarks of their builds.

The paint codes are in the first post: Colors: Base is Ford Vermillion Red (E4), stripes are GM Arctic White (WA9567).

Thanks everyone for the very kind words. It's was a little cool in Michigan last weekend (upper 40's, low 50's) but at least the sun was finally shining. Got a little over 60 miles on it. First impressions are all really good. Ride is tight, like I expected it would be, but it's not harsh. Tracks fine, steering is centered, brakes feel good. Oh, and the seat heaters work very well also. Didn't push anything, but no surprises and I can tell it's going to be a fun cruiser with plenty of power to keep it interesting. A car was following me taking pictures, so my first experience with that. Went out to lunch on Sunday and it does draw attention. Received, in order, questions (1) is it real, (2) how much did it cost, and (3) is it a "******"? You all are maybe used to this. All firsts for me.

Had a little scare after my first ride of about 20 miles and it was dropping some oil. Once it cooled down and I could check it out, could see it was kind of everywhere along the back and bottom of the engine, foot boxes, etc. My first (and easiest) thought was valve cover gaskets. I was using the original Ford Racing gaskets from almost two years ago. Supposed to be pretty good ones, but the covers have been off and on dozens of times during all my engine work. Got some new Fel-Pro blue silicon gaskets and installed. Another 20 mile ride, and all is dry. I had visions of something way more serious... Looked it all over including underneath, and no other squawks at this point.

Supposed to be 70's and sunny all this week. Plan to keep driving. Driving it to work tomorrow and probably again on Friday. The snow and cold will be here soon enough.
