How much higher than the existing frame/shroud mounting position do I need to move the headlights for proper fender clearance (fenders are out for body work - can't measure ).
Make a bracket for frame or reinforce shroud?

I added about 1/4" of fiberglass reinforcement on inside of shroud where I plan to mount my headlights.
I am aiming at about 15" down from upper centerline of the shroud for mounting spot.
I am also planning on running wiring in armored shiny stuff, rather than trying to squeeze all the wires in the center bolt hole. Didn't seem to fit for me, especially if you run the extra wire for the running lights.

Here’s my solution. I welded 2” x 1” box tubing plus a flat steel reinforcement to the support brackets, just above the original headlight holes...raising the headlights approx 3” up. In retrospect I should have gone another 1/2” but I already sort of knew where the turbo intake was going to be so was worried about interference.

Hey Ralph, thanks for that. I had mine on the mounted fenders - didn't much care for that, moved to the cowl/frame, including the extra wire (the always - on white strip works for me, maybe safer), without the fenders, now I need to know how far I need to move the lights for proper positioning above the fenders - plan to go straight up from the existing mount point.

Hey Pat, nice fab work, lookin' sincerely serious. Thats 3" and you would rather 3.5"?

I’m glad you asked Mike.
I always thought I’d gone 3”, but in fact I just measured and it’s 4. So 4-1/2” up from the highest hole in the radiator mount brackets is what I’d humbly suggest. If you look closely at my RHS photo I don’t believe I have enough room to level the center beam of the headlight without the body hitting the fender.
If you’d like more photos just ask! And of course any measurements, just let me know the reference point you’d prefer.
Happy to take/make them.

thanks Pat, going to check out now. I leveled the white headlight strip by nibbling the notch in the bucket enough to rotate the bulb.
