Trying to figure out what I am forgetting that needs to be done before I drop in the motor. Here are some pics where the car drop in?

Fuel system complete, heater core installed, wiring done mostly but dash needs to be installed stilled (getting upholstered)

Wiper Motor?

If you are planning to run windshield wipers, then now would be the time to install the wiper motor.

You might have to disconnect the steering shaft at the rack.

I installed a huge DOHC 4.6 l on my own. Went very well. Used the typical hoist but the engine leveler was key to dipping the engine and keeping it dipped without a helper. As Steve mentioned, raising the rear end helps a lot as well.

After you have a motor in & out a few times it becomes "almost" routine.
It's making all of the connections and tightening everything that takes time.

I would also recommend protecting your footbox and firewall with tape, cardboard, towels, etc. This will help protect the painted surfaces if you accidentally bump the engine or transmission into them.

+1 on removing the radiator. Depending on your hoist, you may need to bring the ram all the way to the x member. I have a 1 ton HF hoist extended all the way and it barely reached the mounts. Make sure you trim the mount off the trans if needed.

I installed the heater after the engine. If you run into it, you might damage it.
I did not remove the steering shaft. Used an engine leveler and when tipping the rear of the engine down, that caused the engine to rotor slightly (PS was lower than DS). This allowed me to pass the steering shaft without any interference, with the starter, alternator, and power steering pump installed.
