I have come across and older Factory Five Soft Top kit and would like to install it. The kit is complete except for the instructions and the windshield side latches.

1) are the instructions available? I've searched and found the links to the ERA install and to the FFR(Whitby) install with the soft sides. This uses the original cobra style hard side curtains. The bows seem to install backwards from an original, the bigger bow angles to the rear and the hinged bow goes to the front - or at least that is how it appears. The box is marked "Box 17, MkIII". One of the bags with the lift-the-dots is numbered 14287.
Can anyone help? I will be able to figure it out, but some of the original input would be helpful

2) The latches and the hooks that mount on the windshield posts are missing. Are these still availalbe as a part?

Thanks

Paul

I have the old style soft top on my Mkll. Yes the fixed bows go to the back and the hinged ones go forward, they get held in place with a velcro strap on the soft top.
The windshield clips are mounted to existing threaded holes on the "A" pillars. They are old British car parts, try Moss Motors for them, maybe MGA TR3 items. Do you have the curved steel channels the mount on the top of the windshield frame? The fabric is glued to these frames during the install.
I can get you some pictures if you need them.

I have fitted tops to other builds and understand the process. However I have seen cases where the side curtain did not fit the top welll, especially along the rear edge. Do you have any pictures of your top/side curtain showing that rear fit up? Curious what they recommend for the location of the bow mounting holes and in relation to the most forward lift-the-dot as this would be critical in making the window fit the top
