I would like to take the exhaust volume down some without replacing my stainless sidepipes, has anybody found a way to do it, ive looked at the vortex cone inserts at summit but dont know if the would fit in the curved end.
Thanks for any help!

If you have the FF pipes, they are loud. Slimlines are what some used but I don’t believe they are making the right size any longer. Some have inserted cones and such and there was a recent post on this very subject (can’t find it now of course). I had Gas-N’s and they were not loud at all IMHO.

I installed the Car Chemistry inserts in my side pipes. Tight fit but got them in with a dead hammer. I haven’t heard them yet as the car is at the paint shop getting finished. I had the inside plug welded on at a Midas, for free. I left the outside plug off until I hear the sound of the pipes. I actually had an issue with one of the inserts not being the correct one and it was replaced by CC very quickly.

I would think a 30 inch (2 1/2 core) cobrapack muffler from Classic Chambered Exhaust replacing the 18-20 inch FF sidepipe muffler would be a significant sound reduction and present less restriction than perforated discs and cones. It would be interesting to hear from any that have done this.

I did that very thing. Got a spare set of collectors & tips. Got 2-30" packed mufflers from Classic Chambered Exhaust. Welded up a set for basically a couple of hundred bucks. Turned the tips down a bit as well. I can say I is a different sound & more pleasant tone. Not a whole lot quieter but the bark is gone and replaced with more of a rumble. At highway speeds it's a much better sound than the glass packs. I haven't been on the forum for a while, so can't figure out how to post a clip off of the computer. I've got before & after clips to show the difference.

I installed patriot auger inserts, and it made a big difference in volume and tone. It's a tedious job though. You have to cut the sidepipe tips off, cut and grind the augers down to the correct outside diameter to fit inside the sidepipes, then reinstall the tips by either welding or using stainless band clamps. I'm glad I did it. It sounds much better. There are several threads here describing the procedure step by step.

The augers work very well.
