I got my Ford M-7553-C302 clutch cable, MUCH better than the FFR one. HOWEVER, when I put it on it was about an inch short of proper adjustment when threaded all the way in. I looked for several adjuster options and they were either too expensive or I didn't like them. So, here is what I did:

In my parts box I located the unused power rack bushing and sleeve, realized that the bushing is the same diameter as the plastic end of the cable and also fits into the hole in the cable stop on the trans with minor grinding:

I then cut it down to 1.5", right at what I needed to get the adjustment in range:

130431

With a couple wraps of electrical tape the sleeve fits snugly over the plastic cable end:

Mount the cable, problem solved.

THIS is why I throw away none of those parts, never know when you'll need them. But honestly, do yourself a favor and order the Ford cable. Night and day difference.

Hope this helps someone else.

Long term update? I'm in need of this spacer, and will give this a shot (provided I can find that part!).

Iowa Ben, I still have my steering rack sleeves, no need for them, happy to send you one, I'm in Solon IA if that is near you. Tim

Brad,
Is that Mike Forte's clutch effort reducer on the bellhousing? If so, how do you like it?

Works great still, and yes that is a Forte extender. With that and the Ford cable, the pedal has a great feel

Occasionally in the past we have had to use one of these
