View Full Version : How did you (or would you) mount a flag to your roadster?

Friends.
I've been looking around for some sort of flag pole that will fit onto the quickjack. I've looked at some motorcycle and marine applications but haven't found anything that suits my fancy. I was also thinking of somehow attaching the little flag pole (stick) to my GoPro suction cup and attach it to the trunk.
(I understand that for non-military vehicles the American Flag is supposed to be mounted to the right front bumper. Bending the rules here ;) )

Eddie,
How about a fishing pole holder?
You've got Flush & Surface mounting options that might work between the seats or roll bars.

https://www.marinedepotdirect.com/stainless-steel-removable-rod-holder.html
How about this version which would possibly mount to your roll bar.

It might be a viable option, plus you could use it for fishing when you are at the beach.

WOW - them's lookin' like for full-sized flags.
I just found this wee one:
https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Plate-BKFLAGPL-Motorcycle-Flagpole/dp/B007FWPZD8/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1HTFGI3B7I9YM&dchild=1&keywords=motorcycle+flag+mount&qid=1592858086&sprefix=motorcycle+flag+%2Caps%2C481&sr=8-7
Says it mounts to 1/2" and 3/4" tubes.
But I wonder if it's mounted on the rear quickjack if there will be enough wind. With all the turbulence back there it may blow backwards!

Try axiaalloys.com. They have wip mounts that are clamp on. All of their products are real nice but expensive. I have a few of their products on my off-road car.

Aroudn the 4th I always get a couple of the 1' flags, cut the lower part of the wooden 'pole' off, and tape the upper portion of the flag 'pole' to the roll bar uprights.

I've mounted small (maybe 9" x 12") flags to the windwings brackets. I make a three-link chain out of zip ties: one zip tie tight around the flag's wooden stick, one zip tie around the windwing bracket, and one zip tie to tie the other two together. Two "chains" per flag.

Get some 1" PVC pipe about 12" long. Glue a cap on the bottom and strap it to your quick jack up front . . . Rube Goldberg is alive and well and living in Florida . . . Ha Ha Ha

A pair of these rollbar light mounts and a couple bolts through the flag-pole would be an inexpensive and sturdy mount. I used one of these to make a GoPro mount and the rubber inserts prevent any scratches to the rollbar.

I was hoping to get this done before The 4th of July, that's typically the last time of year I drive the car before I put it away for the super-hot SoCal summer.

I tried to size-up this one from my post above - the one that would attach to the quickjack extension.
Turns out my quickjacks are cut down a little bit, and they are only about 2" long in the rear. There is risk of the bottom of the mount (fat part) rubbing against the paint. I may order that one anyway and try to attach it to my GoPro suction cup mount, and then to the trunk lid.
The light bar clamp might work but I was thinking that if the flag was mounted on the rear quickjack, Old Glory (Little Glory) will encounter less wind and not fray apart in 100 miles. What do you guys think?

Years ago I tried the cheap, common flags that usually mount between the window and roofline. I wanted to drive around with the flag on the holiday so bad I attached it to the quickjack with electrical tape. Didn't work out well!

CHECK IT OUT GUYS
These are going to work. GoPro suction cup to 1/4-20 stud. All aluminum. I am sure I can somehow attach the stud to the flag pole.
I'll get up a picture when it's done.

Here she is! Obviously, I didn't use all the parts that came with the kit. The GoPro mount was 1/4-20 stud. The flag pole was M8 male, it was close to 5/16-18 so I jammed it into a female 5/16-18 and used JB Weld to snug it up. (I was surprised an M8 tap was $35 but that's another story.)
The flag itself is good quality, reinforced end to keep it from fraying.
Sorry to say I didn't get a chance to take out the Cobra on the Holiday but I used the flag on my truck.
