Just got my kit last week and am very excited. The instruction manual that came with the kit says to put in 1.875 quarts of gear oil in the rear end differential. But Moser's website says you should buy 3 quarts and it doesn't give the capacity in the specs.

I used just about 1.75 "ish" in my 8.8 but also put in the Ford friction modifier that many other have used. Filled til it couldn't take anymore up to the fill plug.

NOTE: That friction modifier smells TERRIBLE and stunk up the garage for a week.

Same as nuhale. Mine took under 2 quarts before running out the fill hole. But mine is a standard Ford 8.8 differential for the old T-bird IRS, not a Moser.

They are variable as to the exact amount. Have on non-standard cover on mine. Just load the modifier & fill with the rest till, as the guys said, it comes of of the filler hole.

On further searching, I found more info in the literature that came with it. The 8.8 takes 3 quarts.

Hey, Dennis. Go ahead and buy 3 but just pump it into the diff fill hole until it starts to come out. Pay attention to your oil as some come with friction modifier already added while others need a small bottle before the oil.

I have a 8.8. moser. Only took around 1.75L. I put the friction modifier and 1 L in to the gears w/ the cover off before installing the rear end. Then slowly filled through the fill plug until fluid started coming out of the hole.
