Starter flywheel engagement

SO never had this issue, starter spins, but does not engage flywheel, have T-5 with Ford 302. Starter supposed to be a DBL, but I think its a generic copy, no labels on it. Anyway starter and solenoid work fine off car. Any thoughts ?130182130183130184

Is the starter gear loose on the shaft?

another thing for me to worry about/look in to.
I have a T5/289 combo with a 157 tooth flywheel for my roadster build.

THanks guys, looks like they sent the wrong starter, the new one has the gear sticking out more, putting in tomorrow
