I have a Mk4 roadster in the garage, time for the next project. My son drives a '91 Dodge D350 with the iconic Cummins 5.9L 12V and I love it! Was looking at the 35 Hot Rod Truck but want to put a diesel in it. I know the 5.9 won't fit but what about its little brother the Cummins 4BT? I see splitting the tailpipe under the cab and running dual stacks at the corners of the bed. I don't want the VW TDI and the newer R2.8 is nice but c'mon man! The old battle proven clacking 4BT? that's as real as it gets. What mods would I need to make to the frame, suspension and driveline to accommodate the 4BT with a NV4500 manual tranny? anybody?

You most likely could make it work but you would need to make all your own motor and trans mounts and modify the frame, ETC as needed. It would be a fair amount of work in my opinion.

which part of the frame would need modifying in your mind? I can make the mounts but I'm worried about drive shaft length. I don't have a shop near me to custom the shaft, ran into that problem with my roadster, so it would have to be something stock "made to fit" I suppose. Thanks for the reply by the way, love your builds and appreciate your expertise.
