Hey guys.
Figured it was time to sign in and post that i am currently in the process of building my Gen 3 Coupe. #169.
Currently its been 11 months (delivery was July 1 2019). no major issues as the build goes along. Most of my questions have been answered in this form. Tons of info/pics, thanks goes out to edwardb. His build doc is kinda a bible on how to build a truly awesome Coupe.
Car is ready for gokarting but still waiting for the engine and transmission packaged coming from Craft Performance. Its a 408 with a TKO 600.
My hope is to have it driving and ready for bodywork by winter time (still looking for a local body and paint guy).
As for me... Grew up in Colorado, moved to TX in 2000. Dad was a diesel mechanic and did everything needed to the cars and house. He was a great role model. Plenty of go carts, dirt and street bikes and a bunch of hot Rods thru the years. Been working as a Mechanical Engineer since 2000 for a large Semiconductor Equipment MFG in Austin TX. It was time since becoming a grandpa and my girls have moved out of the house for me to start a new project. So with the wife help the search was on. I have always loved the story behind Mr Shelby and the looks of the Daytona. My wife like the old Datsun Z cars and with some of the same body lines it wasn't too hard to get her on board with building a Daytona.
Again thanks for all those who came before me. Guaranteed to be much harder build if it wasn't for this form and its great info.
Doug
