Anyone build in CATs to 4x4 FF5 Headers? I have the 4x4's straight to the side pipes on a 408w and as much as i don't mind it my wife is having issues with the exhaust smell at idle.

I know FFR does them for the Coyote. They are made by Canammex (https://www.thunderboltperformance.com/), at least that the name stamped on the cat. I’m considering them as well, though the odor from mine did get better after I had my Coyote professionally tuned. I looked into buying they hi flow cats and having them welded in locally, but the cost was higher than from FFR.

What is the benefit of adding the cats?

The only one I can say for sure is that it tones down the exhaust note. It is speculated that it will help clean up the odor, but not proven that I know of. Though, these high-flow cats don’t rob power so the only downside, IMO, would be cost.

Thanks! Do you know if the electronic's for the coyote motor would let it run without the cats?

The Mustang version of the Coyote has o2 sensors before and after the cats, but the crate version only has the o2 sensors that would be before the cats so it has no way of knowing if there are cats present or not. Many (most) folks here are running their coyote without cats so it's definitely not a problem. I'm planning to install them in mine for the same reasons as GTBradley (cut down on noise and gas smell). I also figure if I can make the car a little more environmentally friendly and still have a blast in it, why not? It's not like it's going to be short on HP if I add cats.
